The locals sheltered here while the U.S. dropped bombs from B52s. The U.S. was never officially at war with Laos, but during the Vietnam conflict the U.S. dropped more bombs on Laos than were used during the whole of the second world war. Today, unexploded ordinance (UXO) is a major cause of death. |
